Greg Jones knows first-hand that drug and alcohol addiction can ruin lives. He faced those demons years ago, and now it’s his mission to help others through the darkness.
“I’ve been there. I know,” said Jones, the senior pastor and former board member of River Outreach, which provides a faith-based community, housing and support services to those wanting to turn their lives around. “If God changed me, he can change anybody.”
Located on the east end of Maysville, in an an improving neighborhood that was on the decline, the River Outreach program began in 2018, a sanctuary for those suffering hardships with little hope of a sustainable lifestyle.
It wasn’t until Pastor Greg arrived to manage the program in 2021, after 19 years learning at a ministry in Lexington, that hope was found among those who passed through the doors.
“Things changed and the opportunity opened up (to become senior pastor) and Maysville just put arms around us,” he said.
